Discontinuation of anticonvulsant therapy in patients with idiopathic generalized epilepsy: risk factors

Introduction. Idiopathic generalized epilepsies account for approximately 15-20% of individuals with epilepsy. However, there is no consensus on how to cancel anticonvulsant therapy in patients these epileptic syndromes after achieving remission, and what can be considered as risk factors relapse seizures.
 Purpose: identification predictors seizure recurrence discontinuation idiopathic epilepsy.
 Materials methods. Retrospective analysis The included two hundred thirty eight genetic epilepsy (GGE), which 209 (88%) were (IGE) 29 (12%) GGE. 143 (68%) IGE achieved remission. An attempt was made 78 (54%) patients.
 Results. Seizure observed 57 (73%) patients. 90% relapses occurred the first 5 years therapy, half year. In group childhood absence (CAE), discontinued 6 patients, — 0. 8/14 (57,1%) juvenile (JAE) had discontinuation. myoclonic (JME) 23/25 (92%) isolated tonic-clinic (IGTCS) 26/33 (78,8%).
 Conclusion. Among epilepsies, CAE has most favourable prognosis JME least, a more than 90%.
